Water Extraction & Drying for Small Leaks in Waltham, MA

A washing machine hose let go. The dishwasher leaked overnight. A pipe under the sink dripped for a week. When the water is in your carpet and floors, not your walls, you don't need a restoration crew. You need it out and dried. I'm Ray DeMeo, and I do the extraction and the drying myself.

What I Handle

Water Extraction

I pull the water out of carpet, pad, hard floors and upholstery with professional portable extractors, not a shop vac.

Drying

I dry the affected area, so the job doesn't stop when the standing water is gone.

Moisture Checks

I check moisture levels and tell you honestly whether it's dry or whether the water went further than it looks.

One person from the first call to the last moisture reading. You deal with me the whole way.

When You Need a Restoration Company Instead

Some water damage is bigger than extraction and drying. Call a restoration company if:

  • Water got into walls or ceilings, or a ceiling is sagging
  • Several rooms or a finished basement are flooded
  • The water is sewage or groundwater
  • You see or suspect mold
  • Drywall, flooring or other materials need to come out (in older homes, that can require asbestos or lead testing first)

If I see any of this, I'll tell you right away and give you the names of restoration companies I trust. No kickbacks.

How I Can Still Help on Bigger Jobs

  • Extract the first water to stop the spread while you line up a restoration company
  • Give you an honest read so you're not going in blind when they quote you
  • Clean your carpet and upholstery after the restoration work is done

How It Works

1. A Quick Call

Tell me where the water came from, how long it sat and what got wet. I'll tell you honestly whether it's a job for me.

2. Extraction

I remove the water from carpet, pad, hard floors and upholstery.

3. Drying and Moisture Check

I dry the area and check moisture levels. If the water went further than it looks, I tell you, and point you to the right help.

Real Situations I Handle

Laundry room floor wet from a washing machine leak

The Washing Machine Hose

"My washing machine hose popped while I was at work. The laundry room and hallway carpet are soaked." I extract the water from the carpet and floor, dry the area, and check that the moisture is gone.

Kitchen tile floor wet from a dishwasher leak

The Dishwasher Leak

"The dishwasher leaked overnight and water ran under the cabinets." I extract the standing water, get under the toe-kicks where I can, and check for water in the walls. If it's there, I'll tell you that you need a restoration company.

The Slow Pipe Leak

"A pipe under the sink dripped for a week before I noticed. The carpet next door is damp." I extract the moisture, check the pad, and tell you honestly whether drying will save it or the pad needs replacing.

Water Damage Questions

  • How fast can you get here?

I answer calls and texts 7 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week. Water calls are emergency appointments, so I'll tell you right away when I can be there, and if I can't get there fast enough, I'll tell you that too.

  • Do emergency calls cost more?

Yes. Unscheduled emergency calls are billed at emergency rates with a minimum charge. I'll explain the cost before I start.

  • Can my carpet be saved?

Often, if the water was clean and it's caught quickly. I check the carpet and the pad and tell you honestly whether extraction and drying will work.

  • Do you handle mold?

No. If I see or suspect mold, I'll tell you and recommend a mold remediation company.

  • Do you work with insurance?

I don't handle insurance billing. If you're filing a claim, call your insurance company first. If they require a restoration contractor, I'll give you names of good ones.

  • What should I do before you arrive?

Shut off the water source if you can do it safely. Stay out of standing water near outlets, cords or appliances. Move what you can off the wet floor.

Water Where It Shouldn't Be?

Call or text me and tell me what happened. I'll give you a straight answer about whether it's a job for me, and if it isn't, who to call instead.
