Meet Ray DeMeo

Your Trusted Carpet & Cleaning Expert in Waltham, MA

Who is Ray?

Hi, I'm Ray DeMeo, owner and operator of Sunshine Cleaning Systems. For 18+ years, I've been helping homeowners and businesses throughout Greater Boston maintain beautiful, healthy spaces with professional-grade cleaning that actually works—not just the kind that looks good until next Tuesday.

When you call Sunshine Cleaning, you get me. Not a call center in Nebraska reading from a script, not a different tech every visit who can't remember if your couch is beige or brown—just me, the guy who knows that proper carpet and upholstery cleaning is more art than science, and that your home deserves someone who cares as much about the details as you do.

My Story: From Helping Mom, to Mastering the

Science of Clean

Why I Started Sunshine Cleaning Systems in 2007

After working with several cleaning companies, I kept seeing the same problems: rotating technicians who treated every job the same, rushed schedules that prioritized quantity over quality, and customers who deserved better. I knew there was a better way - personal service, proper training, and actually caring about results. So in 2007, I started Sunshine Cleaning Systems to prove that one dedicated professional could outperform any franchise operation.

My journey to becoming a Master Textile Cleaner wasn't conventional. Growing up with learning differences, I discovered something unexpected: I noticed details others overlooked. While other kids saw a carpet as just "the floor," I saw fiber patterns, wear paths, and subtle color variations. What seemed like a limitation in the classroom became my superpower in professional cleaning.

When I graduated from Learning Prep School in 1998 with the Director's Award, I learned that persistence and attention to detail could turn challenges into strengths. That same focus is why today I can:

  • Identify different carpet, upholstery, and area rug fiber types
  • Spot pre-existing damage during assessments that franchise techs miss entirely
  • See the "invisible" wear patterns that tell me exactly how to approach a cleaning
  • Notice when a stain has multiple layers (coffee spilled on wine on pet urine - yes, it happens)

Just as a skilled craftsperson knows exactly how to work with different materials, I learned early that every carpet, every fabric, every tile surface requires its own specialized approach. What worked on one surface could damage another. What seemed like "just cleaning" was actually a complex dance of chemistry, technique, and care.

That experience—from struggling to find my path to discovering my calling—shapes how I approach every job today. When you invite me into your home, you're not just hiring a cleaner. You're working with someone who sees what others miss and cares deeply about getting it right.

What Makes Me Different (Besides My Winning Personality!)

01

IICRC Master Textile Cleaner Certification

This isn't just a piece of paper on the wall. It means I've mastered advanced stain removal, understand fabric chemistry, and can solve problems that make other cleaners throw up their hands and suggest replacement. Think of it as the difference between a mechanic and an automotive engineer.

02

Owner-Operator Advantage

When you schedule with me, you're not dealing with: Rotating technicians who need your address GPS'd every visit, corporate quotas that prioritize speed over quality, or upselling tactics that would make a used car salesman blush. You get consistent, personal service from someone whose reputation depends on your satisfaction.

03

Eco-Conscious Without the Compromise

I use environmentally preferred products not because it's trendy, but because they're often more effective and safer for your family. Plus, they help extend the life of your carpets, furniture, and floors—which means less stuff heading to landfills.

04

Local Knowledge, Local Pride

I know Greater Boston like the back of my cleaning-solution-stained hand. I understand that Newton homes often have different soil conditions than Waltham apartments, that Back Bay condos present unique access challenges, and that every neighborhood has its own personality reflected in its cleaning needs.

Why My Background Makes Me Better at This

Attention to Detail Others Miss

My learning journey taught me to notice what others overlook. That slight discoloration in your carpet's corner? I see it. The way your upholstery fabric responds differently in high-humidity areas? I adjust my approach accordingly.

Patience and Persistence

Overcoming communication challenges taught me that good results take time and the right approach. I don't rush through jobs because I know that careful, methodical work produces results that last.

Understanding That Every Home Is Different

Just like every person learns differently, every home has its own cleaning personality. The Victorian in Newton needs different care than the modern condo in Cambridge. Your rug has different requirements than your neighbor's synthetic carpet.

Respect for What Matters to You

Growing up helping my mother clean other people's homes taught me that we're not just cleaning surfaces—we're caring for the spaces where life happens. Where families gather, where memories are made, where you deserve to feel comfortable and proud.

My Promise to You

No Surprises, No Pressure

I'll tell you upfront what's possible and what's wishful thinking. If that mysterious stain has been there since the Clinton administration, I'll be honest about the odds while still giving it my best shot.

Professional Service, Personal Touch

I show up on time (novel concept, right?), in uniform, with professional equipment. But I also remember your pet's name, your carpet's quirks, and whether you prefer your furniture moved back exactly where it was or "close enough for jazz."

Results That Actually Last

My cleaning doesn't just make things look better for Instagram—it makes them healthier, cleaner, and longer-lasting. Because what good is a great-looking carpet if it re-soils faster than Boston traffic builds up on the Pike?
